A gathering and visitation for Samuel “Sam” Kenneth Johnston, 38, of Rio Vista, will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the funeral home.

Sam passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025. He was born on June 27, 1986, in Tampa, Florida. Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army and dedicated his career to nursing, where he exemplified a commitment to caring for others. Known for his intelligence and witty sense of humor, Sam enjoyed working on his car and had a passion for gaming. He cherished his role as an uncle and was a devoted animal lover. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Sam is survived by his girlfriend of six years, Alexandra Johnson; his mother, Martha Nelson; siblings, Matthew Johnston, Rebecca Butcher, and Adam Johnston; nephews, Liam Johnston and Ryan Johnston; stepson, Cooper Johnson; nieces, Reagan Butcher and Abby Butcher; and his beloved dog, Solo. He is also remembered fondly by a host of friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Blaine Johnston; his sister, Liberty Ledford; his grandmother, Lauretta Jean Moore; his grandfather, Richard Moore; and his dogs, Luna Belle, and Max.
