Service for Sarah McNew Baker, 90, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the Nolan River Road Baptist Church. The Reverend Larry York will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baker passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Cleburne. She was born July 18, 1921 in Owensboro, Kentucky to George and Mary Chambers McNew. She married Gordon Maxwell Baker on July 7, 1947 in Malvern, Arkansas.

Mrs. Baker graduated from Henderson State College with a masters degree in Elementary Education. She was a retired teacher and a member of Nolan River Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Beth Meeks and husband John R. of Joshua; two sons, James Maxwell Baker and wife Julie of Gordonville, Texas and George William Baker and wife Rosa of Daytona, Florida; four grandchildren, Jennifer Renee Kim and husband Daniel, John Maxwell Meeks and wife Tina, Chad Nicholas Baker and wife, Jesse and Christopher James Baker; sister Bonnie Christine Gardner of Gordonville, Texas; nephew, Tim House and wife Allison of Cleburne; and sister-in-law, Margaret McNew of Arlington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Maxwell Baker on May 26, 2008 and two brothers, George and James McNew.
