Graveside service for Shirley Ramsey Benedict, 84, of Temple, formerly of Granbury will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 in the Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, prior to the service.

Mrs. Benedict passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 in Keene. She was born January 25, 1928 in Johnson County to John Samuel and Charity Martin Ramsey. She married Paul G. Benedict on Aug. 11, 1948.

Mrs. Benedict worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and as a clerk at TG&Y. She enjoyed arts and crafts, including cross stitch, painting and sewing her own clothing and purses. She also enjoyed baking. Shirley was a member of a bridge club in Granbury and the First Baptist Senior Choir in Temple. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Paula DePriest and husband Paul and Joe Benedict; grandchildren, Charity Torres and husband Clemente and Dustin Buckmaster and wife Vanessa; six great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Smith; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul G. Benedict on Jan 7, 1992; and siblings, Harry Ramsey and Mildred Ramsey Daniel.
