Graveside service for Shirley Jeraldine Tucker Black, 81, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 at Grange Hall Cemetery. Her grandson, Dean Black will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-6:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Shirley Jeraldine Tucker Black passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 in Cleburne. She was born April 3, 1936 in Keene to John Tom Tucker and Floy Pearl Staggs Tucker. On January 21, 1956 she married Elmer Othell “Pete” Black in Cleburne.
Shirley retired from Lockheed Martin in 1992 as a safety inspector. After retirement she served as a crossing guard for Burleson ISD for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Alvarado chapter No.656 and previously served as Worthy Matron of the Burleson chapter. She was an avid bird watcher and spent many hours working on embroidery projects. Shirley enjoyed working in the garden, on her farm, and raising livestock. Her most precious moments were spent being “Memaw” to her grandchildren and their friends. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include her three children, Gwen Black Symons and husband B.J. of Woodward, OK, Grady Black and wife Tris of Cleburne, Scott Black and wife Sherrie of Burleson; grandchildren, Lee Blackstock and wife Lindsay, Zack Blackstock and wife Keegan, Heath Blackstock, Maddison Black, Dean Black and fiancée, Kaleigh Burnett, Pete Black and wife Ashlie, Austin Black and wife Nikki, and Allie Black; six great grandchildren; brother, Charles Otto "Buster" Tucker; sisters, Lue Rene "Sis" Livingston and Johnnie Lee Fuller; brother-in-law, Leon Greer; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Pete; brother, James Orval Tucker; and sisters, Rosie Mae McLaughlin, Jewel Beatrice Alexander and Dorothy Ann Greer.
