Inurnment for Shirley Ann Larson Wilson, 100, of Cleburne, will be held at 9:30 A.M., Monday, July 10, 2023, in Rosehill Cemetery, Cleburne. Reception to follow at the home of Betsy Harty, 1118 Trace Road, Cleburne.
Shirley passed away on June 20, 2023. She was born March 6, 1923, in Omaha, Nebraska where she lived until her junior year in High School. Her family moved to Texas where she attended Highland Park High School in Dallas and North Texas Agricultural College, a branch of Texas A&M University, in Arlington. She worked for a Dallas based petroleum engineering firm, Degolyer & McNaughton, until 1948. That same year she married Alfred Wilson. They settled in Arlington where they began their family. While living in Arlington, she and three ladies started a hospital volunteer group called the Pink Ladies. In 1964, the family moved to Cleburne and ultimately to Hardluck Ranch west of Rio Vista. Shirley helped start the Layland Museum in Cleburne, worked as a docent at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth and was involved in numerous charitable organizations. She celebrated her 100th birthday this past March in Gunnison, Colorado.

She is survived by her children, Tom Carrico, Martha Gillespie, and Amanda Gearhart; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Wilson; son, Rick Wilson; and grandson, Eric Wilson.
