Graveside Service for Sonja Gayle Lain, 76, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 15, 2019 in the Baker-Lain Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 P.M., at the funeral home.
Sonja Lain passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 in Cleburne. She was born on June 02, 1943 to Billy Fern and Iva Christene (Hankins) Harvey in Cleburne. She was a 1961 graduate of Cleburne High School and in 1962 attended Airline Stewardess School in Dallas. From 1963-1965 she worked at 1st National Bank in Fort Worth. She married Tommie L. Lain on April 17, 1964 in Cleburne.
In the 60’s – 80’s Sonja was a homemaker, mom, and co-owner and bookkeeper for T.Lain Drywall Co for 30 plus full-time employees. In the early 90’s Sonja raised at one time, 90 plus Holstein bottle-baby calves, while attending Hill College to finish her Associated Degree in Criminal Justice.
She worked over 10 years as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). Sonja thoroughly enjoyed the new Corvette, Cadillac Convertible, new Lincolns and new sports cars she purchased with the fruits of her labor.
She was a beautiful, smart and capable woman, retiring in 2004 due to health reasons and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Sonja is survived by her husband of 55 years, Tommie Lain; children, Tommy Lynn Lain, Jr. and spouse Gina of Cleburne, Lora Lain Dooley and husband Doug of Cleburne, Levan Ladd Lain and fiancée Shannon of Cleburne, Scott Reynolds and wife Ricki of Cleburne; grandchildren, Taylor, Emma, Trey, Lydon, Landon, Mason and Mackenna; great-grandchildren Ace, Ryker and Presley; aunt Doris Lanfear; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
