Graveside service for Stafford Newton “Sonny” Davis, 73, of Cleburne will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 9, 2018 at Rosehill Cemetery, officiated by Brother Donald Maxwell. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
On Thursday, April 5, 2018, Sonny passed away peacefully at home after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born August 5, 1944 in Alvarado to Lonnie and Lizzie Davis. He married Deborah Kerr on February 2, 1979 in Cleburne.
Sonny was a brick mason/foreman for 40 years, before retiring. He was well known as the “famous front man” of Cole Creek Country Band who played at many venues for 20 years. He sang country songs, played guitar, and other stringed instruments such as banjo and fiddle. Sonny loved fishing and camping with his wife and family and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. Sonny loved the Lord and whenever given the opportunity, ministered to others in his Christian faith.
Sonny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Debby Davis; three sons, Brian Davis and wife Jan of Hico, Bobby McMahon and wife Tonia of Haslett, and Kevin Davis and wife Michelle, of Cleburne; daughter, Christina Felan and husband Stefan of Cleburne; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Amber Rene McMahon and a sister, Francis Letha, who died in infancy.
