Services for Steve Harkrider, 63, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Cleburne. Graveside services will follow at 2:15 P.M. in the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home from 6-8:00 P.M. Sunday. Mr. Harkrider passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Cleburne. He was born November 20, 1946 in Tyler. Steve served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He married Lynn Jones on September 30, 1993 in North Richland Hills. He worked as a truck driver for many years. In 1976 he graduated from the East Texas Police Academy and served as an officer in Tyler and Van, Texas. Steve was a family man, to say the least. His granddaughters call him "Grandaddy", his proudest title. He enjoyed fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, and his old blue truck. He loved to travel, especially by airplane and train. Steve worked hard to earn both his Aaronic and Mechezdic Priesthoods. His journey within the church brought him great peace and comfort. His loving spirit and great sense of humor will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him. Steve is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darrell.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Harkrider; children, Michelle Fox, Danielle Alleger, and Brandon Harkrider; granddaughters, Kylie Benton, Isabella Fox, and Ashlyn Johnson; siblings, Myrna Meadows, Donald Scaff and Eileen Scaff; sister in law, Eva Harkrider; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
