Steve Dale Lackey

Steve Dale Lackey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 8, 2025, in Cleburne, Texas, at the age of 74. Born on October 23, 1950, in Johnson County, Texas, Steve lived a life rich with joy, music, and the beauty of the outdoors.

He was known for his unwavering love of fun, always finding ways to infuse laughter and joy into the lives of those around him. Dancing and music were among his greatest passions, and he embraced every opportunity to celebrate life through rhythm and song. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, dedicating himself to caring for his property, where he found peace and fulfillment.

 He is survived by his wife, Penney Lackey; his son Jason Lackey and wife Heather; grandchildren Lauren Herring and husband Andrew, Mason Lackey, Mason Bryan, Jacob Moore, and Kourtlyn Moore; as well as his stepchildren Tabitha Moore and Shaun Bryan; great-grandchild, Wrenley Herring, his sister, Debbie Eaves and husband Jack, his brothers Gail Lackey and wife Belva, and Mark Lackey and wife Tammie.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Lackey and Mae (Trussell) Lackey Radcliff; a sister, Carolyn Brewer; a brother-in-law, Jerry Brewer; and his stepfather, Jim Radcliff. While he is dearly missed, his spirit, love, and laughter will continue to resonate within the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy of joy and familial love will be celebrated and remembered in the stories they share, keeping his vibrant spirit alive.
