Graveside service for Steven Douglas Doug Maples Jr., 42 of Granbury will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 15, 2013 in Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Dominic Valero will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home.
Steven Douglas Doug Maples Jr. passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Ft. Worth. He was born Jan. 12, 1971 in Cleburne to Steven Douglas Steve Sr. and Bobbie Elaine Bicknell Maples.
Doug served in the United States Army Reserves. He graduated with a Masters degree in communication with the University of Texas at Arlington, where he enjoyed time as a DJ on the campus radio station. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed spending time in his garden. Doug worked as a computer development technician at UTA for 10 years before working with American International Group Incorporated (AIG). He was a member of Eastern Heights Church. Doug enjoyed writing as a freelance writer during Ann Richards campaign and Selenas career both. He had already written one book and was working on another at the time of his death. It has been said that he was liked by everyone. Doug’s sense of humor and fun loving nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his parents, Steve and Elaine Maples; brother, Chad Maples; grandfather, H. A. Bicknell; nieces, Christa Maples and Matahna Maples; numerous aunts and uncles and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bobbie Jo Bicknell, Doug Maples and Elaine Maples Cross.
