Sue Jane Starnes

Graveside services for Sue Jane (Burd) Starnes, 89, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 23, 2020 in the Cleburne Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Donna Ware will officiate. Pallbearers will be Matt Kordic, Gary Coplan, Dustin Curbo-Coplan, Alex Hoyt, Robert Davis and John V. Starnes, III. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Monday at the funeral home.

Sue Jane Starnes passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 in Cleburne. She was born November 5, 1930 in Cleburne to William Ernest and Harriette Sue (Wallis) Burd. She married John Vernon Starnes on June 18, 1954 in Dallas. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1997. She was a loyal and faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

Sue Jane was a registered nurse for Dr. Shiflett at JCMH Hospital and it was her true calling. She was a sweet, loving woman who was the caretaker for everyone in her family. She was very adventurous and loved to travel.

Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Jaye Kordic; grandchildren, Emily Kordic, Matthew Kordic, and Justin Kordic; great-grandson, Jaxson Cotterman; stepchildren, Beverly Starnes Griffith and John Starnes, Jr.; nieces, Dianna Hartwell and Margaret Jean Svoboda; and cousin, Jerry Burd Ellis.

Preceding her were husband, John Vernon Starnes; her parents; stepson, Mike Starnes; and sister, Rebecca Ann Collins.
