Graveside services for M. Sue Calvert Ballew Spoon, 96, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2023 in the Prairie Grove Cemetery also known as Emmett Cemetery in Emmett, Texas. Pastor Jason Revill will be officiating.
M. Sue Calvert Ballew Spoon passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Groesbeck, Texas. She was born to Virgil Spencer and Grace Lillian Heine Calvert on March 29, 1926 in Hawley, Texas. At the age of 19, Sue married the love of her life, Jessie Ballew, in 1945. They were married 29 years at the time of his passing in 1974. Sue was of Christian faith. She was a talented cake decorator and baker, having the ability to make a beautiful cake for any occasion as well as countless delicious other baked goods. She and Jessie owned and operated Ballew's Bakery for a number of years in North Richland Hills. She also worked in Buddy's and Albertson's Grocery Stores Bakeries. Sue was known for her cheerful disposition, always with a smile on her face. She had a great love of family. Sue's giving nature and loving spirit will be missed greatly by the many family members and friends that were blessed with her being a part of their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, George (Pete) Calvert.
Survivors include her brother, Tucson Calvert; Nieces and Nephews, Ron Calvert, Terri & David Herridge and Suzanne & George Jeffcoat; step-granddaughter, Gaylynn Hierholzer; as well as a host of other family and friends.
