Services for Sumner Doyle Tye, 75, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:30 am, Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at St. Mark United Methodist Church, Cleburne. Dr. Leonard Radde will officiate. Burial will be in the Tye Cemetery, Burleson.
Mr. Tye passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006 in Ennis, Texas. He was born in Paducah, Texas on October 9, 1930 to Cleo Reece Tye and Ida Vee Coats.
Mr. Tye was a retired certified jailor for the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. He graduated from Paducah High School and in 1956 from Texas Weslyan University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and loved singing in the choir. He was also a member of Nolands River Masonic Lodge #453 of Rio Vista and recipient of his 50 year pin, and a member of the OddFellows/Rebecca's. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Sumner Doyle Tye is survived by his son Todd Reece Tye of Sherman; brother Bryan Tye and wife Gloria of Grandview; sister Wanda Cleo Tye Scott and husband Boyce of Perryton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
