Susan Halvorson

A memorial service for Susan Clarice Halvorson, 71, of Rio Vista will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 7, 2023, in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Chaplain Eddy Carrell will officiate.

Susan passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Fort Worth. Susan is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Halvorson, children Ingrid McCloy and husband Matt, Katy Halvorson, and Eric Halvorson and wife Jenny; sister, Sharon Wilkerson; brother Drew Hester; grandchildren Kason and Lily Halvorson, Miles and Mason McCloy, and Addy and Jackson Halvorson; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Avie Ethel (Adams) Hester, father, Weldon Lee Hester, and brother, Lee Hester.

She was born November 24, 1951, in Fort Worth. She married John Halvorson on June 30, 1973, in Fort Worth. Susan worked as a nurse in numerous roles from the Emergency Department to Home Health, finally retiring as a school nurse from Rio Vista ISD. She was known by many names, Susan, Susie Q, Mom, and most notably Meemo. She loved to play the piano, sing, and dance. She was a selfless servant of God who always put others' needs before her own. Meemo was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
