Graveside service for Thelma “Granny” Steele, 97, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:30 P.M., Tuesday, Mar. 29, 2016 in Greenacres Memorial Park. Dr. Danny Crosby will officiate. Pallbearers will be Rocky Steele, Jacky Steele, Levi Steele, Richard Kirkland, Misti Bingham, and Katee Steele. Honorary pallbearer will be Justin Bingham. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home.
Thelma “Granny” Steele passed away Friday, Mar. 25, 2016 in Cleburne. She was born Nov. 26, 1918 in Ft. Worth to James Lecter and Mary Etta McDonald Hutchison. She married J.K. Steele on June 13, 1942 in Cleburne and he preceded her in June of 1988.
Granny Steele was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to many. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Bingham of Cleburne; seven grandchildren, Misti Bingham, Justin Bingham, Jacky Steele, Rocky Steele, Tabitha Green, Chivas Steele, and Richard Kirkland; several great grandchildren; extended family member, Verna Steele of Cleburne; and special friend, Allie Jefferson of Alvarado. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Volley Womack and James “Buzzy” Steele; daughter, Annette Kirkland; two brothers, Curtis Hutchison and James Hutchison; and two granddaughters, Sandy Steele and Angie Kirkland.
