Tom Newsom

Graveside services for Tom Newsom, 75, of West Tawakoni, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2023 in the Rosehill Cemetery with Rev. Jackie Mears officiating. There will be a time of visitation at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 for those able to visit with the family.

Tom Newsom passed away in West Tawakoni on Saturday, January 21, 2023. He was born the son of Billy Ray and Elzie June Crowley Newsom on August 17, 1947 in Cleburne. He was of the Baptist faith. For over 40 years, he owned and operated Tom's Tractor Service in Cleburne and West Tawakoni both. He married Kathy Melia Elder on January 18, 1988 in Cleburne. They were married 16 years at the time of her passing in 2004.

Tom was known for his sense of humor; always the jokester. He was a witty man with a soft heart. Tom enjoyed spending time dancing, working on or riding his motorcycles and fast cars. He could often be found drinking black coffee and eating something sweet. His favorite being German Chocolate Cake that Kathy made him every birthday. Tom was also comfortable in the kitchen. It has been said that he could cook anything. He had a strong will and believed in working hard, which he was still doing until the time of his passing. Tom's love of family and life as well as his laughter will be missed greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Wanda Newsom Roland.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Lisa & Doug Peterson, Amber Fisher, and T.J. & Jessica Newsom; 7 grandchildren, Shea, Layne, Tye, Tomi, Abigail, Hailey and Aaron; 8 great grandchildren, Tatum, Landyn, Asher, Miles, Merit, Connor, Sophia and Milia; siblings, Sharon Newsom and Mike Newsom; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
