ervices for Tommie E. Smith, 85 of Godley, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 29,2006 at First Baptist Church in Godley. Rev. Kenneth Coleman and Rev. Jack Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in Godley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Smith, Chris Milnes, Gary Smith II, Richard Milnes, Justin Willis and Sawyer Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Milnes, Steve Willis and Kevin Kromer.

Tommie E. Smith passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2006 in Ft. Worth. He was born October 29, 1920 in Purcell, Oklahoma to Tom and Valtie Lovett Smith. He married Dortha England on January 21, 1948 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Mr. Smith was formerly a resident of Oklahoma City area for over 60 years before moving to Godley 2001. He retired from Prestolite Battery after 40 years of service as a production manager. He was the former owner of Smith Tack & Feed in Midwest City OK for 16 years. Mr. Smith was in the U.S. Navy during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater and received many decorations for his service. He also served as president of Crutcho, Oklahoma ISD over 20 years. He was a member of Oklahoma City V.F.W. Post # 1857 and was former secretary of the Oklahoma City Roundup Club. Mr. Smith enjoyed riding, training and racing horses.

Tommie E. Smith is survived by his three sons, Gary Smith and wife Anita of Albuquerque, N.M., Ron Smith and wife Kay of Godley and Tommie Smith, Jr. of Rhome; three daughters, Cindy Milnes and husband Rick of McKinney, Barbara Willis and husband Steve of Godley and Becky Kromer and husband Kevin of Oklahoma City, OK; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-granchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha England Smith and five sisters.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
