Graveside services for Tommie E. Vaughan, 85, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 2012 in the Live Oak Cemetery with Reverend Weldon Coble officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
Mr. Vaughan passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 in Cleburne. He was born to Farley Montgomery and Sally Jane Wiley Vaughan on January 28, 1927 in Bono. Tommie worked as a machinist with both the Santa Fe and Union Pacific Railroads for over 35 years. He was a Baptist minister, returning to church within the last 3 years. Tommie was a giving man, always putting the needs of others above his own needs. He was known for providing groceries to numerous families around the area. He enjoyed playing dominoes and checkers. Tommie's courageous spirit and giving nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Patsy Lou Hadley and Tommy Herbert "Sonny" Vaughan; and siblings, Archie Vaughan, Alma Carlock, and Thelma George.
Survivors include his sons, James Vaughan and his wife, Rhonda, and Darrell Vaughan; 6 grandchildren, Leah, Jessica, Jason, Jeannie, Julie, and Justin; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends including his former wife, Mattie Marie Vaughan Hadley and her husband, Wayne Hadley.
