Graveside service for Tommy Lee Watson, 74, of Joshua will be conducted at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday June 7, 2022 in DFW National Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the funeral home.
Tommy Lee Watson was born on January 10, 1948 in Tioga, Texas to Bert Lamb Watson and Mary Cox Watson. He had a childhood full of wonderful memories, especially working with his father in the family business. Tommy would smile remembering how proud he was to earn enough money to buy a hamburger, and boy did he love German Chocolate cake as well as chocolate chip cookies!
After graduating from Everman High School, Tommy enlisted in the US Army and was part of the famed Black Horse 11th Armored Calvary Regiment. He bravely served in Vietnam until December 18, 1968, when he was wounded in action. Tommy was awarded both The Purple Heart and The Bronze Star, and his family will be forever proud of his service to our country.
Tommy loved his family, and viewed his role as a husband, father, family man and provider his biggest accomplishment in life. On September 23, 1969 he married Janelle. Together they raised their son Keith, and were very active in his local school Ag program. He was a simple man who loved horses, country life, music, dancing with Janelle and most of all his family.
Preceding him in death and greeting him in Heaven are his parents, Bert and Mary, grandparents, Slim and Myrtle Cox, daughter in law Shelly, along with a host of “buddies”. Those left to cherish his memory and legacy are his wife, Janelle House Watson; son, Keith and wife Connie; grandson, Jason Watson; granddaughter, Melissa Thomas and husband Brandon. Tommy also leaves three great-grandchildren, Addy, Mason, and Riley.
