Services for Travis J. Witherspoon, 77, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Rev. John Thornton and lifelong friend, Mr. Billy Mac Kennedy will officiate. Interment will be 4:00 p.m. in Gessemany Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be David Witherspoon, Clint Witherspoon, Billy Witherspoon, Jason Witherspoon, Justin Witherspoon and Craig Melton.
Travis J. Witherspoon passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in Ft. Worth. He was born March 28, 1929 in Bennington, Oklahoma to Carrol and Maude Tarter Witherspoon. He married Nina Joines on January 30, 1948.
Mr. Witherspoon graduated from the North Texas State University with a doctorate of education, was an educator with the public school system and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Hurst.
Travis J. Witherspoon is survived by his wife, Nina Witherspoon of Cleburne; sons, David Witherspoon and wife Debbie of Cleburne, Clint Witherspoon and wife Sheri of Cleburne, Billy Witherspoon and wife Stacey of Arlington; grandchildren, Jason Witherspoon, Justin Witherspoon, Jennifer Melton and husband, Craig, Jessica Witherspoon, Madison Witherspoon, Spencer Witherspoon, Rylee Jayne Witherspoon, Chelsie Witherspoon and great-grandson, Evan Melton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin Witherspoon and sister, Lila Witherspoon.
