Service for Verdie Anita Collins , 86, of Burleson, will be conducted 12:00pm, Friday, September 28, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Burleson. Reverend Danny Tinney will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Verdie Anita (Bruce)Collins was born October 3,1931 to Arney Forest and Miriam Reeder Tarter Bruce. She was the sixth of eight children. Verdie grew up in Johnson County ,born in Rio Vista, Texas .
Her dad was farmer and dairy hand . She married David Clenton Collins at the age of 17 and they moved to Burleson, Texas where she has lived for 67 years. They had 4 children: David, Donald, Darrell, and Darla.
Verdie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Burleson, where she helped with Communion, she also taught Sunday School and was on the board.
She held the highest honor as Den Mother in the Cub Scouts. She loved to bowl and bowled 10 National Tournaments and 20 State Tournaments.
Verdie believed in helping those less fortunate and did so many times. She loved her church family, especially the Friendship Class.
She worked at BISD as leader of the Nola Dunn Cafeteria. She retired from Huguley Nursing Center after 17 years as a Hairdresser and Manager of the Beauty Shop.

Verdie was preceded in death by her parents, Arney and Miriam Bruce, husband David Clenton Collins, 5 sisters; Ginny Fuller, Billie Faries, Ezell Morgan, also 2 baby sisters that were not named, 2 brothers, Garland Bruce, and Arney Forest Bruce, Jr., son; David Collins, son in law Gene Peugh, great grandson, Donald Clenton Collins, nephews Walter Fuller, James Collins, and Buster Collins, nieces, Pauline Benson, Dorothy Jacobs, and Judy Vavrin, 5 brother in laws, 3 sisters-in-law, nieces Mary Lynn Morgan and Barbara Collins Terrell. Additional family members Angela Martin and Clarice and Dyllen and Daphne.
She is survived by her Son, Darrell and wife Denise of Burleson , Son Don of Burleson and Daughter Darla of Alvarado, 5 grandsons, Shayne Collins and wife Tiffany of Carlsbad, NM, Justin Collins and wife Sarah of Joshua, Jeremy Collins and wife Shannon of Burleson, Jason Collins and wife Chanel of Joshua, and Tim Peugh of Rio Vista; 2 granddaughters, Nona Reed and husband Jesse of Burleson, Sarah Collins of Joshua, 16 great grandchildren, Kelly Peugh of Cleburne, Paxton Peugh of Cleburne, Gillian Collins of Cross Plains, Billy Collins of Burleson, Layla Collins of Burleson, Emily Collins of Burleson, Willow Collins of Joshua, Savannah Dixon of Joshua, Eden Collins of Joshua, Aiden Byrd of Joshua, Kayla Gilbert of Fort Worth, Hailey Reed of Burleson, Dalton Reed of Burleson, Tayden Collins of Carlsbad, NM., Talyssa Mann of Carlsbad, NM., Justin Reed and wife Landi of Burleson, 2 great great grandsons; Ryder Reed of Burleson and Abelino Tonche of Cleburne. 2 great great granddaughter; Trinity Tonche of Cleburne and Niomi Tonche of Cleburne and soon to be born great great granddaughter, Lakelyn Reed, and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional loving family and friends.
