Vernon H. Chilcutt

Graveside service for Vernon H. Chilcutt, 93, of Arlington will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Buel Cemetery in Johnson County. Chaplain Rusty Hudson will officiate.
Vernon H. Chilcutt passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in Arlington. He was born Sept. 16, 1922 in Springtown to Ora Aden and Ethel Parks Chilcutt. He married Viola Williams on March 8, 1942 in Dallas and she preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 2000.
Mr. Chilcutt served in the United States Air Force and worked as a shoe salesman for H.H. Brown Shoe Company, retiring with 30 years of service. He was a writer and musician. He was of the Baptist faith. Vernon will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Charles Chilcutt of Lubbock, Jimmy Chilcutt of Montgomery, Steven Chilcutt and wife Susan of Kingsland and Verna Allen and husband Robert of Arlington; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Nona Baxter of Lubbock; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael Chilcutt; and brother, Harmon Chilcutt.
