Service for Vickie Kay Cox, 73, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 24, 2022 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Reverend Tommy Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne. Pallbearers will be Ken VanDyke, Jeff Hicks, Hunter Hicks, Haden Hicks, Brad Cox, Tim Pettus, Zach Wells and Bradley Cox.
Vickie passed away October 17, 2022 in Fort Worth. She was born August 16, 1949 in Borger, Texas to Wallace Carl and Edith LaFern Smith Hood. Vickie married Christopher Sim Ousley in January of 1970 in Port Aransas, Texas. He preceded her in death in November of 1973. She married Denman Earl Cox on March 11, 1991 in Lewisville, Texas. Vickie was strong willed, independent, and believed in doing things right. She loved to laugh, square dance and music of all kinds. She was also an amazing seamstress and crafter. In younger years she was a talented roller skater. Vickie was giving almost to a fault. Her family was her center. Vickie will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Denman Cox; daughter, Dedra Hicks and husband, Jeff; step-children, Brad Cox and wife, Barbara, Tim Pettus and wife, Carol and Kathy Duke; grandchildren, Hanna, Haden, Hunter, Bradley, Ashley, Jessica, Tyler, R.J., Tony, Cyndee, Carrie, Brooke and Cade; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Bobbie Gandy, Michelle VanDyke, Ken VanDyke, Steve VanDyke, Roxanne Tieman, Gaylene Whitehead and numerous nieces, nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
Vickie is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Hood and LaFern VanDyke; first husband, Simmy Ousley; stepsons, Gene Cox, John Pettus and Mike Pettus, brother, Ricky Hood.
