Virginia Kathryne Taylor Williamson Senter passed on to her heavenly reward, May 12, 2014. She was born, November 22, 1926 on the family farm near Itasca, Texas to James Lawton Taylor and Allyne Caldwell Taylor. She moved to Cleburne from Hillsboro when she was four years old. Virginia graduated from Cleburne High School and attended Abilene Christian College for two years.
She married Avon Ben Williamson Jr., May 8, 1947 and he passed away in February, 1994. They worked together in the cedar wood oil business until they retired. She belonged to several civic organizations while in their business. She loved her church family at Westhill Church of Christ, and took part in many activities and teaching. When she moved to College Station, three years ago to be closer to family, she also loved her church family there, at the Brazos Valley Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Emerald Study Club, several other book clubs, and The Red Hat Society of Cleburne.
Virginia loved the large family dinners during holidays, and other special occasions. She would visit the mountains of New Mexico with her long-time friend, Helen Cullers, which was one of her great joys to see God’s wonderful creation in all its splendor among those mountains. She also loved traveling with J.L., Barb, and her sister in law, Carolyn McCoy. Carolyn preceded her in death this past December.
She and Ben would give hay rides to the young people from church and then she would sit and tell stories to them that she would make up, but all the children loved them. She was always known for her great smile and laughter. She told folks, that since being in College Station, she had been ill most of the time, but did have some good times and moments, and that her brethren at the Brazos Valley church were always there for her.
In 1998 Virginia married Earl Senter and they were married until he passed away in 2009. She always said that she had so many happy and fulfilling moments, and a very good life. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her step mother, Bea Taylor.
Survivors are her brother, J.L. (Lyndon) Taylor and his wife Barbara; step brother and wife, Danny Snell and wife Lisa, nephews, Jim and Paula Taylor (James and John); Randy and Susan Taylor (Jacob and Kelsey); the Senter family, Gene Senter, Sherry and Walter Martin, seven step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren; her mother’s sisters son, first cousin, Jerry and wife Nancy Hazelwood, along with many loving cousins. Also, one who always called her Mom, Dee Williams.
The family would like to thank their Christian families in Cleburne and in College Station for their love, support and prayers during Virginia’s long illness, also to the Fortress Health & Rehab Center, staff and all personnel, especially Nurse Edna, and Compassionate Care Hospice, for all of their wonderful care, especially Ann Nichols and Alice Luna.
