Virginia Smith

Graveside service for Virginia Merle Smith, 68, of Covington, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 3, 2022, in Covington Cemetery. Bishop F.L. Ashley and Pastor DeWaun Ashley will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Evan Smith, Derek Smith, Cameron Smith, Calob Smith, William Smith and Aubrey Stark. Honorary pallbearers will be Virginia Smith and Christy Smith.

Virginia passed away Monday, May 30, 2022, in Dallas. She was born March 1, 1954, in Sulphur Springs to John George and Elsie Louise (Shelton) Crump. Virginia married Earl Littleton Smith on July 27, 1970, in Greenville, Texas. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. She worked for 15 years as a labor and delivery nurse, 21 years as a medical examiner investigator and a Johnson County jail nurse, and 3 years working in the office for Dr. John Hoffman.

Virginia is survived by her sons, William E. Smith and spouse, Tammi of Covington, Christopher P. Smith and spouse, Cristina of the Philippines; grandchildren, Dakota, Derek, Josh, Virginia, Calob, Evan, Cameron, Christy, and Landon Smith, Azumi Albero; great-grandchildren, Brenden Smith and Elizabeth Smith; sister, Margie Crump of Covington.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Earl Smith who passed away on December 16, 2018.
