Vivian May Hamilton, 90, of Midland, formerly of Cleburne, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006. She was born June 14, 1915 in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Calvin and Viola Burkholder Basinger. She grew up in a happy, loving home with her parents, sister, and brother.
In 1937 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in science from Purdue University. While working as a lab technician in a hospital in Tennessee, she met a young medical student, Con D. Hamilton, Jr. They were married on November 7, 1940 in Bolivar, Tennessee. They moved to Cleburne in 1948 and she resided there until 2002. She spent fifty years being a loving and supportive wife to her husband. Dr. Hamilton died on November 2, 1990, just five days shy of their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Hamilton was a devoted mother to her three children. They were blessed with her guidance and will be forever grateful for the unconditional love she showered upon them.
She doted on her grandchildren. Homemade cookies were always waiting whenever they visited. All twelve grandchildren will live with wonderful memories of her and the joy she brought into their lives.
She was an avid sports fan and always knew the statistics of her favorite teams. She also enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and needlework. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cleburne.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her daughter, Pat Heiser and her husband Neil of Spirit Lake, Iowa; her sons, Dudley Hamilton and his wife Dale of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Bill Hamilton and his wife Debbie of Odessa, Texas; sister, Glaydis Basinger of Hillsboro, Oregon; brother, Myron Basinger of Kent, Washington; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren (soon to be 12). If desired, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Cleburne.
