Walter Edwards

Graveside service for Walter Edwards, 76, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 18, 2014 in the Keene Memorial Park. Elder Glenn Mitchell will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Earnest Smithson III, Jamal Walter Smithson, Joseph Louis Edwards, Christopher D’Andre Jones and Cameron Brandon Jones. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Walter Edwards passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 in Ft. Worth. He was born March 24, 1938 in Detroit, MI to William and Lillian Wardlaw Edwards. He married Frances Maddox on July 24, 1964 in Detroit, MI.

Mr. Edwards served his country in the United States Air Force for three years. He worked as a skill trades machine repairman in the automotive industry until retirement. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Frances Edwards of Cleburne; three children, Juliana Edwards-Finley and husband Anthony of San Antonio, Jennifer Badger and husband Charles of Hampton, VA, and Jeanette Jones of Silver Spring, MD; honorary daughter, Kelly Jones and husband William of Southfield, MI; nine grandchildren, John Earnest Smithson III, Jamal Walter Smithson, Joseph Louis Edwards, Christopher D’Andre Jones, Cameron Brandon Jones, Jayla A’nette Finley, Jaiyana Kamile Williams, Dre’Von Tyree Badger, and Collin Tyrese Badger; brother, Bernard Edwards and wife Gloria; and sisters, Ozetta Spencer and Rochelle Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William Edwards.
