Graveside service for Wanda A. Vernon, 92, of Texas City, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 7, 2013 in the Rockwall Memorial Cemetery in Rockwall. The Reverend Larry York will officiate. A memorial service will be held in Texas City at a later date.

Mrs. Vernon passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 in Ft. Worth. She was born Aug. 19, 1920 in Fate to Clarence A. and Lou Ellis Vernon. She was retired from Monsanto Chemical Company where she was a lab analyst for more than 40 years. Mrs. Vernon was a member of First Christian Church of Texas City.

Survivors include her three nieces, Barbara Scribner Griffith and husband Martin of Cleburne, Louanne Steph and husband Bobby of Katy and Sue Shoemaker Shifflett of Santa Fe, Texas; two nephews, Butch Barnes and Bob Barnes and wife Dana, all of Angleton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Eddie Lou Barnes, Ernestine Scribner and Allen Shoemaker.
