Graveside services for Wayne Lamke, 81, of Granbury, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 3, 2011 in the Greenacres Memorial Park. Rev. John Glover will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lamke passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011 in Granbury. He was born to Emmanuel and Leta Stuck Lamke on June 17, 1930 in New Underwood, SD. Wayne served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Edith Washburn on April 25, 1953 in Brookings, SD. He worked as an Agronomist with various companies such as Uncle Ben's Rice. After retiring in 1985, he served his community as a Gideon, Meals on Wheels, and Habitat for Humanity. In addition to these groups, he served as a door greeter and with SOS, Spirit Of Sharing Food Bank of Field Street Baptist Church; where he was a member. It has been said that his gift from God was his ability to help others. His service to his community and church is a testament to this statement. Wayne was a bright man with a good sense of humor and artistic abilities, who enjoyed classical music. His quiet, yet loving nature and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Edith Lamke; three daughters, Leanne Lamke and her husband, Art Avery, Coelene Peacock and her husband, Gary; and Cheryl Seymour and her husband, Conrad; four grandchildren, Jodie, Katy, Paige, and Nathan; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
