Services for W.C. "Curley" Hayes, 91, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 2, 2012 in the Crosier Pearson Cleburne Chapel with Dr. Tony Torres officiating. Burial will follow in the Keene Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hayes passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 in Cleburne. He was born to Ira Thomas and Winnie Lois Hagood Hayes on January 27, 1920 in Linden, Texas. He married Rita Faye Duren on August 4, 1943 in Big Spring, Texas. He was a member of Cleburne First Seventh Day Adventist Church. Curley was known for his sense of humor and ability to give everyone a nickname. He was a good story teller and never met a stranger. He enjoyed watching western movies and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a musician, playing the harmonica and guitar for many years. Curley will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Hayes in 2008; and sisters, Bertha Hayes and Oneta Hagood.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Faye Hayes; daughter, Toni Owen and her husband, Eddie; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Joe Hayes and his wife, Barbara, and Doyle Hayes; sister, Oleta Stone; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
