Memorial service for W.E. Jack Carlton, 84, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Charles E. Payne will officiate.
W.E. Jack Carlton passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 in Rio Vista. He was born March 28, 1930 in Brownwood.
Mr. Carlton served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army from 1948-1953. He was an author, historian, and a volunteer for historical preservation. He worked as a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring with 42 years of service. Mr. Carlton was a member of the Johnson County Historical Commission, Johnson County Heritage Foundation, Santa Fe No.3417 Historical Foundation, Wardville Courthouse and Chisholm Trail Museum projects. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Walda Rene Doyle Carlton and his parents, Robert C. and Addie Bell Carlton.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene B. Carlton; children, Debbie Lindsey of Joshua and Carla Cromeens and husband Eddie of Arlington; grandchildren, Kelli Manning and husband Tommy of Joshua, Cade Lindsey and wife Melissa of Burleson, Angie Summers and husband Randy and Jacob Phinney and wife Shayna, all of Cleburne; stepchildren, Clay Tolbert of Rio Vista and Elaine Policicchio of Merced, CA; sister, Neta Billings of Kilgore; and numerous great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
