A memorial service for Wendell D. King, 80, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church Chapel of Cleburne. Dr. Robert Herzig will officiate.
Wendell D. King passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 in Keene. He was born January 24, 1935 in Cleburne to Charlie Theodore and Jewell Beatrice Norman King. He married Vianne Vassar on July 25, 1967 in Ft. Worth.
Mr. King served in the United States Marines. He worked at General Motors for 32 years, retiring in 1989. During his college years he played football for Texas Tech and played in the 1954 Gator Bowl. He loved hunting and fishing and raising cattle. Wendell was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Vianne King of Cleburne; sons, Ron King and wife Wendy of Odessa and Kevin King and wife Leigh Ann of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Carson and Cooper King; siblings, Donald King and wife Gloria of Arlington, Keith King of Ft. Worth, Gary King of Euless, Caroline Tester and husband Mike of Hong Kong, China, and Ricky King and wife Lenise of Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ted King.
