Wesley Ballmann

Wesley Ballmann was born on August 22, 1919 in Riesel, TX. to Ed and Minnie (Matthys) Ballmann. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riesel in 1919 and was confirmed also at Trinity Lutheran in 1932. He married Louise W. Mickan on August 11, 1945 in Navasota, TX. and they observed their 59th wedding anniversary last August. He gradusted from Texas A&M University in 1942, after which he served 4 years in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. After a distinguished career in sales, he retired in 1983 as vice-president of Dravo Corp. in Mobile, AL.
A devoted Christian, Wesley served his Saviour as a life-long member of the Lutheran Church and actively served congregations in various leadership positions. For many years, Wesley and Louise were members of Ascension Lutheran in Cleburne. His final church home was Word of Truth Lutheran in Glen Rose, Tx. Wesley and family were instrumental in founding, and were charter members of, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, Peace Lutheran Church in Hurst, Living Word Lutheran Church in Joshua and Word of Truth Lutheran Church in Glen Rose.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Ballmann; four children, Dan and wife Celeste Ballmann of Hico, Kay and husband Stan Seat of Carrollton, Ray and wife, Cindy Ballmann of Glen Rose, and Jan and husband Jim Schlachter of Gresham, OR.; fifteen grandchildren, Christie, Patricia, Karyn, Matthew, Charles, Nathan, Rachael, Elisabeth, and Sarah Ballmann, Rena, Janae, and Benjamin Schlachter, Jonathan and Thomas Walsh, and Shawna Duvall; three step-grandchildren, Neel, Mary, and John; two sisters, Esther Werner and Verna Tomek; and brother Wilmur Tichelmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Edwin, Eldred, Elmore, and Raymond Ballmann; one sister, Pearl Heckmann; and one grandchild, Jeannene Ballmann.
