Graveside service for Wesley Nelson, 79, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 24, 2022 at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, Texas with Pastor George Hogan officiating. Visitation will be 6-8:00 P.M., Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas. Pallbearers will be Taylor Ray, Katelyn Biedrzycki, Brandon Fawcett, Adam Fawcett, Peyton Ray, Colin Fawcett, Mario Canales and Michael Fawcett.
Wesley passed away October 17, 2022 in McKinney. He was born March 7, 1943 in McMinnville, Tennessee to Winford Wayne and Elva Minerva Jones Nelson. Wesley married Helen Louella Blankenship on December 20, 1963 in George West, Texas. He retired after more than 30 years with Santa Fe Railroad as a Conductor and Brakeman. Wesley had an independent streak, strong will and was set in his ways. He was the life of the party and bigger than life. He kept you on your toes and would break rules just to see if he could. Building relationships was truly his gift. He loved his family, friends, neighbors and was fiercely devoted to them all. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid football fan. Wesley was a member of Field Street Baptist Church and enjoyed serving the church. He was also know as “Papa” by his grandchildren who were his everything and could do no wrong. Wesley will be missed greatly.
Wesley is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Kristine and David Quisenberry, Karen and Michael Fawcett; grandchildren and their spouses, Taylor Ray and Audrey, Katelyn Biedrzycki and Alec, Brandon Fawcett, Adam Fawcett, Peyton Ray and Colin Fawcett; sisters, Linda Rausch, Katherine Doranski and Bill and numerous nieces, nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
Wesley is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Walter Nelson and Larry Nelson.
