Services for Wilbur Dean "Smokey" Stover, 80, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Rev. Paul Pinyon and the Rev. Bill Roe will officiate. Entombment will be in the DFW National Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Ken Thomas, Jeremiah Brown, Tom Sinclair, Ray Stedman, Buddy Fowler and Tommy Burch. Honorary pallbearer will be Roy Brandon.
Mr. Wilbur Dean Stover passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Cleburne. He was born September 27, 1929 in Lincoln, Kansas to Raymond Luther and Myrtle Grace Foltz Stover. He married Rachael Nelrose Ford on March 18, 1951 in Waco.
Smokey served his country proudly for 23 years in the U.S. Airforce, retiring as a Master Sergeant with the radio maintenance department. Later he became a partner in the S & M Grocery Store. He was a member of the American Legion Post #50 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rachael Nelrose Stover of Cleburne; daughters, Maria Lothridge and husband Kenneth of Sacramento, Calif. and Dorothy Fonseca of FT. Worth; sisters, Dot Keim of South Dakota and Margie Ritter of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Valerie Fonseca, Brian Fonseca, Jason Ayres and Jamie Brown and eight great grandchildren, all who love and will greatly miss him.
Smokey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald A. Stover.
