Service for William “Bill” Spradlin, 80, of Alvarado will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Pastor Franklin Rigney will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Spradlin, Joshua Johnson, Donnie Johnson, Dwayne Spradlin, Blaine Johnson, Julian Johnson, Simon Johnson, and Daniel Johnson. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
William “Bill” Spradlin passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 in Ft. Worth. He was born Dec. 24, 1935 in Rushtown, OH to Hurshal Spradlin and Mabel Rigney. He married Rebecca Ferguson on April 19, 1959 in Bucyrus, OH.
Bill served in the United States Navy and worked as a crane operator before retiring. He was a loving husband, father, grand, great-grand, and great-great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rebecca Spradlin of Alvarado; sons, Guy Spradlin and wife Connie of IN and Terry Spradlin and wife Jane of Keene; daughters, Brenda Shelby and husband James and Tammy Russell and husband Mark, all of Alvarado; 13 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; two great –great grandchildren; brothers, George Gregory of LA, Richard Gregory of KY, and Fred Gregory of FL; sister, Frances Sugden of OH; uncle, Franklin Rigney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, George Spradlin; grandson, Eric Spradlin; sister, Alberta Hensley; and a brother, Charles Edward Gregory.
