Kingwood, Funeral services for William Elmer Dossey, formerly of Cleburne will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Cleburne's Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery near his parents.
Visitation will held from 6-8 PM, Monday, at Cleburne's Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home.
William Elmer Dossey, a retired educator passed away Friday, January 21, 2005 in Kingwood. Mr. Dossey was born in Evansville, Texas, August 17, 1914 to the late William A. and Ara Dossey. Mr. Dossey and wife Myrtle, lived in Cleburne in the late 1940's and early 1950's before moving to Odessa in 1952. They owned a neighborhood grocery store (Dossey Grocery) on Elizabeth Street. In addition to working 38 years in public education in the State of Texas. He retired in 1980, and in 1984 moved to Lake Brownwood. In 2001 they moved to Kingwood (near Houston).
He is preceded in death by his parents, William A. & Ara Dossey, and two sisters, Lorene Hand, and Billie Jean King.
Mr. Dossey is survived by his wife of 64 years, Myrtle, three sons, Elmer Lynn and wife Tami Dossey of The Colony, Texas, Lee and Bea Dossey of Kingwood, Texas, and Byron and Marsha Dossey in Arcadia, Oklahoma. Six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother, Ray Dossey and sisters Floy Little, of Mexia, Texas, and Jonell Thompson of Arlington, Texas.
