William L. Dwyer passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 in Decatur. He was born July 11, 1920 in Waltham, Mass. to William L. and Mabel Mae Gorman Dwyer, Sr. He married Jimmye Nell Sullivan June 4, 1944 in Quanah, Texas.
Mr. Dwyer was a clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad for thirty-one years and a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the U. S. Army for six years. He received the Silver Star Medal while serving in the Pacific during WW II.
William L. Dwyer, Jr. is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Nell Dwyer, of Decatur; son, John A. Dwyer of Lake Worth; daughters, Joan Morgan and husband, Winfred of Decatur, Janet Dwyer of Fort Worth and Judy Myers and husband, Don of Montgomery, Alabama; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Dwyer, sister, Helen Chamberlin and nephew, Stanley Dwyer.
