William Mahurin
Services for William (Bill) Nelton Mahurin, 81, of Cleburne, will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, in the Field Street Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday. You may leave condolences for the family, view obituary, and sign guestbook online at www.cpcleburne.com . Memorials to honor Bill may be made to Cleburne Community Hospice.
Bill passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, in Cleburne, surrounded by loved ones, after a two year battle with cancer. He was born to Richard (Dick) and Ruby Calloway Mahurin on November 19, 1928 in Osceola, Texas and grew up in Cleburne. Bill began his career with Lone Star Gas just out of high school and retired, after 47 years, as one of their superintendents. He married Martha L. Hamilton on January 1, 1947 in Cleburne. Bill was a member of Field Street Baptist Church. Bill loved the Lord, his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. He spent as much time as he could with them. Bill was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, gardening, and hunting as well as camping and traveling with his wife and family. Bill will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Louise Rice, Winnie Anderson and Willie Ruth McCrary.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Mahurin, of Cleburne; daughters and sons in law, Linda and Lloyd Brawner of Joshua, Cindy and Jack Plonien of Burleson, and Debbie and Doug Goulding of Arlington; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Dixie Doyle of McAllen; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
