A memorial service for William Virgil Plumlee, 72, of Cleburne will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. The Reverend Charles E. Payne will officiate.
William Virgil Plumlee passed away Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 in Cleburne. He was born May 5, 1943 in Dallas to Virgil Edgar and May Lorene Wray Plumlee. He married Lawreen Edna Adams on Nov. 28, 1964 at Lowry AFB, CO and she preceded him in death on August 21, 2011.
Mr. Plumlee earned a Bachelor degree from UTA and served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad with more than 30 years of service. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to many. His greatest gift was his daughter Laurie and his grandchildren. William will be remembered as someone who would never ask for or accept help from others, but would not hesitate to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Survivors include his daughter, Laurie Hooper and husband Jonathan of Bedford; grandchildren, Lauren Hooper and Ryan Hooper; father, Virgil Plumlee and wife Edith; siblings, Leroy Plumlee of Tuscon, AZ, Janis Rothwell and husband Jimmy Don of Lubbock, and Charles Plumlee and wife Wanda of Keller; sister-in-law, Bettie Umland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his mother.
