Willie E. Lewis was born April 14, 1933, the son of Hugh M and Albie Lewis in Grayson County. He passed away Friday, October 5, 2007, at his home in Bosque County after a brief illness.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2007 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Burial will be in Bethany Rest Cemetery near Alvarado. Reverend Jerry Irving and Reverend Wade Taylor will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jared Marbut, Ricky Lewis, Jr., Reggie Lewis, Walter Lewis, Willie Joe Lewis, Bo Maines, Shane Benton and Daniel Benton.
He married Loree Wallis, his love of 56 years, in Alvarado, on October 27, 1951. They were buddies, spending endless hours together working and playing. Willie lived his earlier years in Tarrant County and moved to Johnson County in the Cahill Community at the age of twelve. He attended the rural school there and the Cahill Methodist Church, where he accepted Christ as his Savior at the age ofsixteen.
Willie's life was spent working and caring for his family, enjoying hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. He retired, after 29 years, from Texas Steele Company in Fort Worth, then spent 9 years as systems Operator for Bethany Water Coopbefore retiring for good. He spent the past ten years residing within sight of Lake Whitney where he made many good friends with whom he hunted and fished.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his wife Loree; one daughter, Becky, and her husband Mike of Alvarado; two sons, Ricky, and his wife Susie, of Iredell, and Roger and his wife Diann of Fort Worth; one sister, Lucille Marbut, of Alvarado; and one brother, James, and his wife Margie of Cleburne; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
