Service for Wilma Ruth Johnson Cooper, 86, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 23, 2017 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. Mr. Clyde Slimp will officiate, assisted by Mr. Joe Will Maxwell. Burial will be in Rio Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers will be D.G. Garner, Pat Garner, Robert Garner, Joe Kaderlik, Curtis Carl Gibson, Robert Gibson, Andrew Hayford and Nate Burgess. Honorary pallbearers will be Powell Cooper, Neil Cooper, George Duke Johnson III, Joe Will Maxwell, James Qualls, Jack Qualls, Ray Eoff, and Larry Hancock. Visitation will be from 6-8:30 P.M., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Wilma Ruth Johnson Cooper passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Cleburne. She was born Aug. 30, 1930 in Rio Vista to George Duke and Mary Bell Lee Johnson. She married G.B. Cooper on Dec. 16, 1948 in Blum and he preceded her in death after more than 57 years of marriage.
Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and a dear friend to many. She was a member of Westhill Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ruth Wirt and husband Lloyd of Rainbow and Martha Jean West and husband Al of Kopperl; grandchildren, John David Wirt of Cleburne and fiancée, Aramy Denley of Coffeyville, MS, Nate Burgess of Rainbow, Sarah Burgess-Gordon of Rainbow and Kathryne Wright of Cleburne; and numerous extended family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Chuck Wirt; brothers, David Lee Johnson and William Charles Johnson and an infant brother, George D. Johnson.
