Service for Winton Norman Gartrell, 88, of Glen Rose, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Vine Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Glen Rose. The Reverend Billy French will officiate Burial will be in Ward Branch Cemetery in Somervell County. Pallbearers will be Wayson Conner, Daniel Rochford, Caleb Rochford, Larry Rochford, Brian Stephens, Chantry Conkle, Donnie Hankins, and Jay Reyes. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Saturday, at the church.
Winton Norman Gartrell passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Glen Rose. He was born April 14, 1927 in Glen Rose to Norman Ben and Lena Pearl Hankins Gartrell. He married Nellie Louise Moore on March 19, 1952 in Cleburne.
Mr. Gartrell served in the United States Army. He farmed and remodeled homes and was a member of the Vine Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Louise Gartrell; children, Randell Gartrell and wife Elaine of Glen Rose, Gail Barajas and husband Bobby of Cleburne, and Sharla Ibarra and husband Juan of Walnut Springs; grandchildren, Danny, Brian, Treshal, Tiffany, Krista,, Wayson, and Heather; 14 great grandchildren; stepsister, Bobby White; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl (Junior) Gartrell, Floyd Gartrell, and Roy Gartrell; sister, Wanda Phillips; and grandchildren, April Barajas and Justin Norman Conner.
