Graveside services for Zana Mae Alldredge, 88, longtime resident of Alvarado, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Methodist Children's Home in Waco.
Mrs. Zana Alldredge was born to Thomas Frank Sr. and Johnnie Frances Ewalt Smith on August 7, 1921 in Kiowa County, Oklahoma. She passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010 in Cleburne. She married Guy Fred Alldredge in 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Alvarado since 1953.
Zana Mae was a member of numerous organizations, including Johnson County Extension Clubs, United Methodist Women, Grandview's Quilting Club, the Sew and Sews, and the White Hat Club, retired nurses of Johnson County. "Nanaw" or "Grandmother", as her grandchildren called her, was a very giving lady, who loved her friends. Her sweet nature and opinionated spirit will be missed greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guy Fred Alldredge; daughter, Elizbeth Clay; and brother, Thomas Frank Smith Jr.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda Sue and David Allen Glasgow; son, Robert Allen and Barbara Alldredge; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Dona Sue Gregston; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives.
